Embassy vacancy: Trade Team Leader

Are you a strong team leader with commercial experience from the clean-tech sector? Join our small, but ambitious trade team and use your commercial experience to help Danish businesses succeed in Singapore and SEA. You will focus on creating value for Danish companies, especially through deep insights and an established network within the clean-tech sector in the region.

Denmark is recognised as an ambitious frontrunner in clean technologies and sustainable solutions, and our team’s motivation is to build on that to further grow Danish export to the region.

Grow Danish exports to the region
You will lead a team of two commercial advisors and two interns. Your primary task is to facilitate the trade team’s success in assisting Danish companies – SMEs and start-ups in particular – in entering or expanding their market presence in Singapore and SEA. You will work with a variety of activities, including first line of sales, lead generation, market analysis and entry strategies, partner and client research, R&D-collaborations, delegation and market visits, as well as event management and promotional activities. This will include some travels to Denmark.

You will plan and prioritise the team’s sales efforts and pipeline in order to meet the joint regional earnings target, while focusing on always adding value for companies. In the team, you will be responsible for your own clients – primarily within Clean-Tech, but also across the maritime industry, F&B, healthcare, ICT, and retail.

Using excellent communications and networking skills, you build strong relationships with companies, universities and decision-makers; you engage relevant stakeholders and make sure to update team members and other embassy colleagues. The ambassador and your regional colleagues in Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines will support you in your work. Our work environment is informal and offers a high degree of flexibility and responsibility.

Commercial experience and consultancy skills
You have at least 5-10 years of professional commercial experience combined with strong experience in sales, as well as a relevant educational background preferably at M.Sc./MBA level. You have profound knowledge of Singapore’s economy, government and business environment, laws and regulations. Knowledge of Danish businesses and Denmark’s strongholds would be a benefit.

With people skills and an ability to take proactive charge of tasks and projects, you are able to set a clear direction for the team’s performance and goals. This requires a strong record of accomplishment of delivering results through teamwork.
