Professor Boerlum Kristensen joins the DK-JPN Health Network

The Royal Danish Embassy in Tokyo welcomed Professor Finn Boerlum Kristensen, MD, PhD, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark and Science & Policy to support Danish and Japanese academic centre roles and contributions to the Strategic Partnership in Health between Denmark and Japan, the DK-JPN Health Network, delivering on initiatives to improve health and societal value assessment and demonstration for health product evaluation and earlier access.
The programme is part of the economic diplomacy efforts and bilateral health and life sciences commitment to ensure Denmark and Japan collaborate on capability building and public health programs, where agency-industry-science cooperation can drive new frameworks for improved product development, resource planning and internationalisation.

The objective of the programme is to

  • drive focussed health service research, regulatory science development and value demonstration through formalised coalitions, linking Danish and Japanese science and commercialization efforts based on research of high quality, expanding evidence-based practices
  • achieve a stakeholder-involved promotion and authority adoption of a clear and transparent process that captures the value of treatment offered by way of innovative health products, technologies and solutions.

The expected outcome of the bilateral collaboration is to support the DK-JPN Health Network purpose by way of

  • a growing, shared view among stakeholders on the needs associated with transparent and clear evidence-based regulatory and value assessment processes
  • identification and initiation of cooperation initiatives to improve health and societal value demonstration in health product evaluation and earlier access.
    This will help to increase the understanding by innovators and authorities of how to generate, request, and assess evidence along the life-cycle from health sciences innovation to value demonstration of medicinal and medical technology products.
