Life Design for Quality of Life. DK-JPN Health Session

The Royal Danish Embassy hosted a public-private partnership roundtable on Life Design - the organization of health care to improve quality of life. With the new appointment of Mr. Takumi Nemoto as Japan’s Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, Denmark and Japan continues sector specific cooperation on health and social issues - from child to elder care and well-being.

The roundtable promoted practical examples of life design and the role of integrated health care to achieve better quality of life. Danish stakeholders shared public-private partnership cases guiding health reform efforts with a primary focus to improve quality of life for patients.

Denmark and Japan cooperate on policy initiatives supporting citizens in remaining self-sufficient and independent, as an important element in healthcare delivery. Allowing people an independent and empowered life optimizes well-being and results in significant savings in the health care sector. With innovation and access to integrated health solutions, citizens can partake in own health management and remain in their home for as long as possible.

Company representatives shared examples of the role of patient, clinician and caregiver participation in product development and health service redesign, sharing their intimate knowledge on living with a condition, allowing care delivery sensitive to their personal needs and quality of life.

The outcome is short stories and cases on the value of Danish-Japanese cooperation linking public-private partnerships to support the Japan Health Vision 2035, building a health care system designed for all life styles and people, where health delivery and access to innovative products support citizens’ choice and quality of life. That is Life Design – empowering society and support personal choice.
