Food & Agritech

Singapore’s ”30 by 30” goal entails ramping up local production of nutritional needs sustainably from less than 10 per cent currently, to 30 per cent by 2030. Given Singapore’s limited space for conventional farming due to land scarcity, the Singaporean government is awarding tenders for farm land based on proven concepts which, can maximise yield. Thus, farmers have to adopt agritech to increase production of leafy greens, fish and eggs – the three food types which local farms currently produce.

To further boost food security, the Singaporean government has attracted and built an ecosystem of future foods research and development companies. With the world’s first regulatory framework for the sale of cultured meat, Singapore now has production facilities for the commercialisation of future food.
